Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At Housing Solutions Maidenhead, we believe that valuing diversity and embedding inclusion into every aspect of our work benefits not only our residents and employees but also strengthens our partnerships and organisational performance.

Our commitment to EDI is not just about compliance, it’s about creating a culture where everyone can thrive, contribute authentically, and feel a genuine sense of belonging.

Activities and Events

Our Inclusion Champions Group plays a vital role in promoting a diverse, supportive, and inclusive workplace culture. This group leads on the planning and delivery of events and initiatives that celebrate diversity and foster inclusion across Housing Solutions.

These activities are designed to reflect the diversity of the Maidenhead community and ensure that our workforce and resident engagement mirror the people we serve. Inclusion is one of our core values, and we strive to make it a lived experience through everyday actions that break down barriers and promote equity.

EDI training for involved residents

We are committed to ensuring that all residents involved in shaping our services are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to do so inclusively.

Our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion training for involved residents covers key topics such as unconscious bias, inclusive communication, and cultural awareness.

This training supports our goal of enabling every person to give their best and ensures that our resident engagement structures are welcoming and representative of all backgrounds.

Inclusive resident engagement

We actively recruit residents from diverse backgrounds to participate in our Resident Engagement (HS RE) structures. This ensures that our policies and services are informed by a wide range of lived experiences and perspectives.

We provide translation support, accessible meeting formats, and digital platforms to remove barriers to participation. Residents are expected to uphold the principles of this policy, contributing to a culture of mutual respect and shared responsibility.

Staff EDI and disability awareness

All Housing Solutions staff and Board members receive mandatory EDI and Disability Awareness training. This includes guidance on communicating with people who are hearing or visually impaired and understanding the lived experiences of people with disabilities.

We also provide menopause awareness and parental support training, ensuring our workplace is inclusive of all life stages and needs. These efforts help us build a culture where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to succeed.

Board level commitment to EDI

Our Board is deeply committed to upholding and championing EDI principles. Board members undergo regular training and play an active role in monitoring progress against our EDI action plans.

We aim for our Board and committees to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and ensure that all governance decisions are made through an inclusive lens. This leadership ensures that EDI is embedded at the highest levels of our organisation.
